Study Plan: November, 2010

Here's the planned reading list for November and what I hope to get out of each title. I usually like to read one code-focused and one non-code-focused at the same time.
  1. Learning JavaScript: I've used JavaScript for years, but always in bits and pieces. I decided to go a little deeper into it because it's a different language from my primary one (C#) and because I can use it immediately in my day-today work.
  2. The Art of Agile Development: This was recommended by my mentor and I actually started and stopped reading it originally because my current work environment isn't going to use this approach. But, it was pointed out that I can independently apply some of the practices regardless and that they are worthwhile.
  3. Clean Code: I knew of this title and Uncle Bob Martin, but it wasn't really high on my reading list originally. My mentor placed bumped it up and I'm actually excited to read it now.
  4. C# in Depth: I expect many a headache, the good kind, while reading this.
  5. JavaScript: The Good Parts: I actually started reading this but put it aside in favor of reading Learning JavaScript first. Everyone who reads it raves about it.
5 books in a month is pretty aggressive for me, but I think I can get it done with the few days off I'm taking around Thanksgiving.

I'm looking forward to the Øredev videos being release from this year's conference, too. I'm curious about RavenDB, so I want to watch those in particular.

I'll be talking about actually writing some code to go with this reading in a later post.
